Proposed Code of Conduct Public Hearing

The Bloomington Public Transportation Corporation (BPTC) will hold a public hearing on
April 17, 2018, at 5:30 p.m. in the BPTC Conference Room located at 130 W. Grimes Lane,
Bloomington, Indiana to receive public comment on a proposed ordinance regarding revisions
to a public code of conduct at the downtown transit center and on buses. Copies of the
proposed public code of conduct are available at the BPTC administrative offices at 130 W.
Grimes Lane, Bloomington, IN. A summary of the changes is listed below.
At the hearing, interested persons will be afforded the opportunity to comment on the
proposed ordinance and public code of conduct. Interested parties may also submit written
comments to the above address or by email at [email protected] on or before before April 17, 2018.

Summary of Proposed Changes to Code of Conduct

  • To add that passengers are allowed to wait at the downtown Transit Center longer than one hour if they are waiting for a Miller Transportation intercity bus
  • To add hoverboards to list of items forbidden to be used at the downtown Transit Center porperty
  • The BPTC customer service manager, not the general manager, to receive passenger suspension appeals
  • If a customer would to appeal the customer service manager\’s decision to suspend the customer from BPTC services and property, the customer would appeal to a committee consisting of the BPTC general manager, one member of the BPTC board of directors as appointed by the board chair, and one fixed route customer as appointed by the general manager
